The 3rd Annual I’m Dreaming of a (No) Blight Christmas Party

Bigger and better than ever! This year it will be held in an actual blighted house! I promise there will be heat and running water by the time the party rolls around.

As usual, this is a party where people donate blighted gingerbread houses to be auctioned off Wayne County style to the highest bidder. The houses can be scary or funny. Some are even beautiful. They may be Detroit landmarks, or visions of the Detroit’s future. Some can even tell a story. Past entries included an apartment fire, The Heidelberg Project, and a future vision of a container hotel.

You can participate by donating a gingerbread house, bidding on a gingerbread house, donating to the fund, or just donating to the fun!

Proceeds from the silent auction go to benefit Cornerstone Village, Detroit’s vacant building board up fund. Food and drinks will be served. Feel free to bring a dish if you are so inclined….

Pedal to Keep Warm Followup:

Preparing for winter cold is not the same for everyone.  Waiting for the bus and walking to school in the winter cold will be warmer for some students this year.

Jim grenwick, president of the Cornerstone Village community association, presents the coats, hats, and gloves to assistant principal Pat Dennis.

Headed by Suzanne Scoville of Cornerstone Village; the coat, hat, and glove Drive was a success this October.
