Bring Your Compost Materials to the Hereford Community Garden

Bring Your Compost Materials to the Hereford Community Garden

Bring your compost materials to the Hereford Community Garden. Green vegetation, leaves, and shredded paper…. Add to the pile that Lisa started …
Get acquainted with cornerstone village.
Drive around see the action. Start with your street but don’t stop there. After you have driven and looked, give your comments on the real world of Cornerstone…good, bad and desired.

A Note From Eric and Maureen Miller of The Lawn Academy:

The Lawn Academy did great work in CSV this summer! We are grateful and looking forward to their help next summer. Below is a note from Eric and Maureen Miller of the Lawn Academy:

The Lawn Academy young men are heading back to school in a week and we had our end-of-season closing ceremony yesterday. The parents were thankful of the opportunity to have their sons participate in the program. Also, the young men expressed their gratitude to everyone that assisted them this summer. I want to thank you and the Cornerstone Village Association for providing an avenue for the young men to be productive and contribute in a positive way to their community. We look forward to partnering with you next summer.

May God continue to bless you,
Eric and Maureen Miller

Paint Project at the Burger King building on Warren (Follow Up)

Follow up on the Paint Project at the Burger King building on Warren July 13th:

Even though we only had a few volunteers who showed up and participated, the removal of the graffiti at the vacant Burger King building was a great success.

Sherwin Williams came through again and donated paint for this project. If you are in the area, please drop by their store on E. Warren and tell them Thanks!!

Woodhall Board up/Clean up with Brian Banks

Woodhall Board up/Clean up with Brian Banks

June 15, 2013 State Representative Brian Banks coordinated a board -up / clean-up of four houses on Woodhall St. in Cornerstone Village , Detroit. 8 Cornerstone volunteers and 6 volunteer carpenters from the Michigan Council of Carpenters and Milwrights,, joined in to get the job done. Things are looking much improved on the 5700 block of Woodhall St. Channel 7 news came to visit and did a story for the 6 P.M. news that day. Thank you Representative Banks and the volunteers for the hours of sweat hours….it was worth it.
